Type design & development
Buvard is an old-style serif inspired by Renaissance typefaces. It features an unconventional, bottom-heavy, weight distribution. It is inspired by a common characteristic found in Renaissance-era prints: imperfection in the printing process resulting in certain parts of letters getting heavier than other.
Despite this added weight giving it a hint of goofiness, Buvard does not renounce its original dignity and retains some of that classical elegance.
